The Tirap District (also Tirāp ) is a district in the Indian state of Arunachal Pradesh . The district administration is based in Khonsa . The associated hierarchical administrative subdivision code (HASC) is: IN.AR.TI.

history

On November 14, 1987, the area of ​​the Changlang District was separated from the Tirap District.

geography

The Tirap District is located in the southeast of Arunachal Pradesh. The district borders on Changlang in the northeast and Myanmar in the southeast . In the west and north the district is framed by the states of Nagaland and Assam . The area of ​​the Tirap district is 2362 km².

According to the 2011 census, the Tirap district has 111,975 inhabitants. The 2001 census showed a population of 100,227. The ratio of women to men is 931: 1000. The literacy rate is 52.2%.
