Cosmos is a kind of rock band from the Bern area .

history

Cosmos was founded in April 1990 by Reto Iseli under the name Glacier Eagles. Four months later, Olivier Maier joined them. Even then, the musical role model was Pink Floyd .

Four years after it was founded, Cosmos produced their first studio album, The Deciding Moments of Your Life, in 1994 . Between 1995 and 1998 they went on tour with a band of nine, sometimes even ten. The female voice from the Bernese Oberland, Sandee alias Sandra Moser, was also part of the choir until she became known in 1998 with Gölä in Switzerland.

1998 was the year of change. The air was out and there was a creative break for an indefinite period of time. After two years, Olivier Maier and Heiko Garrn managed to get the band back on their feet. What was initially declared as a project developed more and more as a kind of reunion of Cosmos. The original member Reto Iseli returned to the band and with Daniel Eggenberger Cosmos could win a good keyboard player and songwriter. Silvia Thierstein finally joined the band to reinforce the vocals.

After the demo CD Different Faces in 2003, the first appearances followed. After a few smaller concerts, on August 27, 2004 there was an appearance at the Open Air Move to Rugenrock in Interlaken, where Cosmos presented a show à la Pink Floyd. They experimented with gigantic light and pyro effects. The CD and DVD production Cosmos Live was made there .

This was followed by the second studio album Skygarden , which was produced in autumn 2005 by Cosmos in the Backyard Studios in Bern and the Greenwood Studios in Nunningen. Also Sandee , which has established itself in the meantime as a solo singer in the Swiss dialect scene, had vocally alongside Silvia to the success of the album. Skygarden was praised by music critics in Switzerland and Germany (for example in Metal Hammer with 5 out of 7 points). The release double concert in May 2006 was sold out.

After a forced health break of over a year, Cosmos worked intensively on the studio album Mind Games until the end of March 2012 . In their own recording studio, a versatile and playful album was created under the direction of Reto Iseli, on which a new voice can also be heard: Mirjam Heggendorn replaced the longtime singer Silvia Thierstein.

A new tour began in April 2012. At the beginning of 2013 Reto Iseli left the band for health reasons. Vladi Jäggi, drummer with international live and studio experience, joined the group. The newly formed band is revising the existing live set. Olivier Maier took over most of the lead vocals from Reto Iseli. Mirjam Heggendorn took on more lead parts, Daniel Eggenberger also took on background vocals.
