Alberto da Costa Pereira (* 22. December 1929 in Nacala , Mozambique ; † 25. October 1990 in Lisbon ) was a Portuguese football - goalkeeper Mozambican origin.
The son of white Portuguese in Mozambique started his career with the Ferroviário club in the provincial capital of Lourenço Marques (after independence: Maputo). For the 1954/55 season he moved to motherland Portugal and was the goalkeeper of Benfica Lisbon for the next twelve years until 1967 .
At Benfica, the 1.88 m tall athlete played in the legendary team that won the European Cup in 1961 and 1962 , together with greats like José Águas , Germano de Figueiredo, Mário Coluna and Eusébio . He also played for the Portuguese national football team , for which he completed 22 games. His first game there was the first Portuguese win against England (3-1) on May 22, 1955 in Porto. His last game in the national team was on January 24, 1965 in a 5-1 win against Turkey in the first qualifying game for the 1966 World Cup in England, which he missed due to poor form and the third in Portugal with a 2-1 win against the Soviet Union Took place.
