Costică Dafinoiu
Costică Dafinoiu (born February 6, 1954 in Viziru , Brăila County ) is a former Romanian boxer . Dafinoiu was European champion in 1974 and bronze medalist at the 1976 Olympic Games .
Career
In the junior division (U19) Dafinoiu won the Eastern Bloc championships in heavyweight (+81 kg).
At the European Championships in 1974 Dafinoiu won the gold medal in the light heavyweight division (-81 kg). In the course of the tournament he won a. a. against Dietmar Ries, GDR (TKO 2nd), and Mikhail Kruts, Soviet Union (TKO 1st). In the same year he also took part in the World Championships , but was eliminated in the first fight against Mate Parlov , Yugoslavia . In 1976 he took part in the 1976 Olympic Games and, after defeating Robert Burgess, Bermuda (5-0), reached the semifinals, which he lost against Sixto Soria , Cuba (AB 1st), and thus won the Olympic bronze medal.
