Court Tomb of Ballymarlagh
The Court Tomb of Ballymarlagh ( Irish Baile Marlach ), southeast of Ballymena , in County Antrim in Northern Ireland , is located in a long west-east oriented Cairn . Court Tombs or Court Cairns ( German "Hofgräber" ) belong to the megalithic chamber tombs ( English chambered tombs ) of the British Isles . With around 400 specimens, they are found almost exclusively in the north of Ireland or in the province of Ulster in Northern Ireland.
At the east end of the Court Tomb there are remains of the court, more than half of which is intact, with stones of exedra up to 1.5 m high . The gallery is about 11.0 m long and contains four chambers. At the western end there is a side chamber on the axis of the gallery.
Ballymarlagh is a Scheduled Monument .
