Court Tomb by Garvagh
The Court Tomb of Garvagh (also called Garvagh Pullans ) is located on Carn Road, between the townlands of Meenawogary and Pullyernan , on the summit of Carn Hill , on both sides of the border between Counties Tyrone in Northern Ireland and Donegal in Ireland . Court Tombs are among the megalithic chamber tombs ( English chambered tombs ) of the British Isles . With around 400 specimens, they are found almost exclusively in Ulster in the north of Ireland or in Northern Ireland.
The border is clearly visible. The northern area of the court ( English court ) is in Donegal, the southern and the gallery in Tyrone. The gallery consists of a small anteroom and a chamber. A pair of posts at the back of the chamber shows that there was originally a second chamber. Three stones of the exedra survive on the north and one on the south side of the courtyard. The anteroom is about 1.0 m wide and 1.2 m long. A pair of posts separate it from the preserved chamber, which is about 3.0 m long and 1.6 m wide. A field boundary running through the monument obscures part of the structure and makes it difficult to see the gallery.
