Courtney Zablocki

Courtney Zablocki (born January 28, 1981 in Hinsdale , Illinois ) is a former American luge athlete .

Courtney Zablocki won the silver medal at the North American Championships in 2000 and 2001. At the Junior World Championships in 2001 she won silver in both the individual and the team. At the World Championships in 2000 and 2003 , she was twelfth. In the 2000/01 season , her first World Cup season, Zablocki took fourth place in Igls, her best result in an individual race. Her best result in the overall World Cup was ninth in the 2000/2001 and 2005/2006 seasons . In 2002 Zablocki first appeared at the Olympic Games . In Salt Lake City , she finished 13th. Four years later , in fourth place, she just missed a medal behind three German tobogganers. She achieved the best result so far for a US female luge at the Olympic Games. At the 2004 Luge World Championships she came ninth, in 2005 she was tenth and in 2007 she was eleventh. Zablocki was US champion in 2005 and 2006, runner-up in 2000 and 2003, and third in 1999, 2001 and 2007. After she had not contested any more international races in winter 2009/2010, she announced her retirement in August 2010.

Zablocki lives in Highlands Ranch , Colorado and is a member of the Colorado National Guard. In 2006 she was inducted into the Colorado Hall of Fame .
