Cowie Water is a river in the Scottish council area of Aberdeenshire . The river has its source in the sparsely populated, rural regions of the Grampians on the slopes of the 357 m high Mid Hill . It flows mainly in an easterly direction and flows into the North Sea after 21 km in Stonehaven .

The Cowie does not pass any significant settlements on its course and reaches the first major settlement with its estuary, Stonehaven. The A90 and A957 cross it a few kilometers earlier .
