The villa was built in 1817 to a design by the Scottish architect William Burn . In 1882, Craigielands House was subtly redesigned. The building, designed in the Greek Revival style , is isolated on the southwest edge of Beattie. The facades are made of dark stone that was built into layers of masonry. The upper floor, ornamented with pilasters, results from an addition.

The east-facing front is seven axes wide. A portico with four Doric columns and a triangular pediment with oculus emerges in the center. Elongated windows with concluding cornices flank the set-back entrance portal with a large window . The two three-axis-wide side facades are constructed identically and close with central cornices. The final platform roof is covered with slate.

In the interior, it is worth highlighting various decorative plaster works. In the vestibule with rundbögigem entrance a mosaic floor is laid. Various doors are crowned decoratively . Pilasters decorate a marble fireplace.
