Craw Stane
The Craw Stane (also called Cro- or Crow Stone, Mains of Rhynie or Rhynie No.1) is a Pictish symbol stone of class 1, near Rhynie in Aberdeenshire in Scotland . The stone stands in its original location on a ridge about 150 meters southwest of the old Rhynie cemetery.
The upper half shows a salmon , below is a Pictish Beast . Investigation of the stone began in 2005 with excavations around the base of Craw Stane. In 2011 and 2012, the original context of one of the most beautiful carved monuments in Aberdeenshire was explored, with the Rhynie area, where a flagstone-lined Pictish burial place was found, proving to be a major Pict center.
