The two-row covering is 3 to 7 millimeters in size and felt-like, glabrous or tiny glandular, and every now and then it is covered with longer glandless hair. The outer 4 to 6 bracts are very short. The fruits are 1.75 to 3.25 millimeters in size, spindle-shaped, light brown, 10-ribbed and have a short beak.

The flowering period extends from March to July.
