Crepis micrantha is a species of the genus Pippau ( Crepis ) in the sunflower family (Asteraceae).

features

Crepis micrantha is an annual stem thermophyte that usually reaches heights of 30 to 80, rarely from 14 to 100 centimeters. The numerous cups are arranged in a cluster of umbrellas . The envelope is 4 to 6 millimeters in size and, like the leaves, has glandless and mostly stiff hair. There are 5 outer bracts, which are about a third as long as the inner ones. The inner bracts are not hardened and do not enclose the outer fruits. The fruits are 1.4 to 2 millimeters in size and cylindrical. The outer fruits are not compressed.

The flowering period extends from May to August.

The number of chromosomes is 2n = 8.

Occurrence

Crepis micrantha occurs in the eastern Mediterranean . Its distribution area includes Greece, Ukraine, Egypt, the Sinai Peninsula, Cyprus, Turkey, Iraq, Iran, Syria, Turkmenistan, the Caucasus and Israel. The species grows on cultivated and fallow land as well as on river banks and forest edges. In Crete it can be found at altitudes from 0 to 1600 meters.
