features

Crepis multiflora is an annual stem therophyte that reaches heights of growth of 7 to 30, rarely up to 40 centimeters. The leaves have no glandular hairs. The stems of the cups are hardly thickened when the plant is fruiting. The shell is 8 to 9 millimeters in size. The outer bracts are one third as long as the inner ones. The flowers are 7 to 8 millimeters in size. The fruits are dark brown and are not enclosed by the inner bracts. The outer fruits are usually 3.5 to 4 millimeters in size, unevenly ribbed, keeled and narrower at their tip than at the base. The inner fruits are 3 to 3.5 millimeters in size, spindle-shaped, 10-ribbed, finely prickly and narrow towards the top.

The flowering period extends from April to June.

The number of chromosomes is 2n = 8.

Occurrence

Crepis multiflora occurs in Greece, in Crete, in the Aegean Sea and in Turkey. The species grows in crevices and on sandy and rocky coasts. In Crete it can be found at altitudes from 0 to 200 meters.
