The Swiss Cricket Association is the Swiss Cricket -Dachverband based in Bern .

history

Old logo (until 2014)

The umbrella organization was founded on March 9, 1978 from the commitment of seven regional cricket clubs in the Australian embassy in Bern as the Swiss Cricket Association . The first president was David Barmes of Geneva CC. Since 1985 the association has been recognized by the International Cricket Council (ICC) as an "Affiliate Member".

After the association no longer provided national teams at ECC Cups in 2005 due to financial problems and scarce resources , in order to instead concentrate on national youth development and referee recruitment, the SCC was able to provide national teams for ECC events again in 2009 and most recently played in the third division .

In June 2012, the association was excluded from the ICC , as a second association ("Swiss Cricket Association") was founded in 2010 with originally four and now nine affiliated associations and claims to represent cricket in Switzerland. For this reason, the association can currently no longer place national teams in championships and no longer receives any funding from the ICC. In order to regain membership, the association must become a member of Swiss Olympic according to the ICC in order to be recognized as the responsible cricket association. Efforts to acquire membership in Swiss Olympic are currently underway.

In 2014 the association was renamed to its current name.

Alexander Mackay has been president since 2011, the sixth president in the history of the association.

Competitions

The Association has 20 clubs that in a 40- Over -Liga (divided into 2 groups: East and West) and in Mr. Pickwick T20 Cup , a Twenty20 play -Cupwettbewerb to today. There are also various tournaments such as the Cricket on Ice, which takes place annually in St. Moritz .

There is no women's competition because cricket is still in the development phase in Switzerland.
