Cristiano dos Santos Rodrigues (born June 3, 1981 in Rio de Janeiro ) is a Brazilian football player .

Career

The 175 centimeter tall attacking player Cristiano came as a 17-year-old junior from the Brazilian amateur club Taquaral FC to the Dutch professional club NAC Breda , with whom he played his first game in the top division (" Eredivisie ") in the 1998/99 relegation season which he rose again in 2000 as champion of the 2nd division and for which he scored a total of 18 goals in 70 games. Then Cristiano moved within the league to Roda JC Kerkrade . For this club he came in four seasons to 100 games in the Eredivisie, in which he scored 34 championship goals.

In August 2006 he then moved to the Swiss club FC Basel . He made his team debut on September 10, 2006 in a 2-1 home win against FC Zurich in St. Jakob-Park in front of 19,987 spectators. The married striker, father of two sons, could not prevail at Basel and was loaned to Willem II Tilburg in the Netherlands during the winter break . There he got five goals in twelve games whereupon he was firmly committed to Willem for the 2007/08 season. In 2008 he moved to the A-League for Adelaide United .
