Cristina Acidini (born May 15, 1951 in Florence ) is an Italian art historian.

biography

She graduated from the University of Florence with a degree in art history in 1977 , received a scholarship from the Fondazione Roberto Longhi to study art history and was visiting professor at the State University of New York at Plattsburgh in 1991 .

In 1982 she joined the Ministry of Cultural Property and Tourism and from 1991 to 1999 she was deputy director of the Florence Artistic and Historical Heritage Department. Since 2000 she was Superintendent of the Opificio delle Pietre Dure in Florence. When Antonio Paolucci was appointed director of the Vatican Museums , she was appointed superintendent of the Polo Museale Fiorentino , a special oversight that was reorganized in 2014. In December 2010 she took on the interim position of superintendent of the Opificio delle Pietre Dure, which she held until February 20, 2012, when the task was entrusted to Marco Ciatti , the former director of the restoration laboratory of the same institute.

She was responsible for major restoration work and has directed numerous exhibitions in Italy and abroad. She has written many essays on art history and published two novels. These very close relationships with the major art publishers are also reflected in the frequent participation in conferences.

She was involved as an applicant for the acquisition of the so-called Gallino crucifix by the state, whereupon she was questioned by the audit office for frivolous acquisition. She was acquitted in September 2013 and then brought to trial again on appeal by the Lazio public prosecutor (December 19, 2013).

On September 22, 2014, following the reform requested by Minister Dario Franceschini , she resigned from the office of superintendent of Florence; A few days later, an investigation was opened against her for abuse of office and for providing services to some companies (and then acquitted).
