Cristoforo chestnuts
Cristoforo Maroni (* before 1387 in Rome , † December 4, 1404 ibid) was an Italian clergyman, bishop and cardinal of the Roman Church . He is also listed under the surnames Manoni , Marone , Morone and Maron .
Life
1387 called Pope Urban VI. him bishop of Isernia and Venafro . This bishopric he held until his elevation to cardinal, which took place on December 18, 1389, when Boniface IX. the Cardinal Priest of San Ciriaco all terms summoned. Around September 1397 he became archpriest of the Vatican Basilica .
Together with the cardinals Francesco Carbone and Bartolomeo Carafa , he served as a mediator in a dispute between Pope Boniface IX. and Paolo Savelli , a Roman nobleman in control of a number of castles, the dispute was settled amicably.
Cristoforo Maroni took part in the conclave in 1404 , from which Innocent VII emerged as Pope.
He died in Rome and was buried in the St. Gregory Chapel in St. Peter's Basilica; his marble tomb was renewed in 1574.
