Croix des Douze Apôtres
One of the first Christianized menhirs in Brittany is the Croix des Douze Apôtres (the cross of the 12 apostles) or the menhir of Rungléo. It is in Rungléo, in the east of Logonna-Daoulas , on the old road to Hôpital-Camfrout in the Finistère department in France .
The 2.18 m long original menhir or milestone was Christianized between the Romanesque and the 15th century . It has a cross on its top and a bas-relief divided into four rows of niches on one side . The upper niche shows Christ blessing with his right hand and holding a globe in his left. Below there are three rows with four niches each with an apostle.
Other stone monuments depicting the twelve apostles in three rows of four exist in Ireland : the Moone tall Cross, the North Cross of Castledermot and the east side of the West Cross of Old Kilcullen, all in County Kildare .
