Crossocerus distinguendus is a hymenoptera fromthe Crabronidae family .

features

The animals reach a body length of 5 to 6.5 millimeters (females) or 4 to 5.5 millimeters (males). Her body is colored black. The female has weak spots on her forehead. The male has dense, short hair on the femora of the middle pair of legs. The species is difficult to determine and can easily be confused with females of Crossocerus elongatulus .

Occurrence

The species occurs in Europe to Japan. It colonizes various habitats up to a height of 800 meters. The animals fly from June to September. The species is common in Central Europe.

Way of life

The females of Crossocerus distinguendus build their nests in the ground, but also in wall cracks and dead wood. The brood is supplied with flies .
