Crown Point is a small town in Trinidad and Tobago . It is located southwest of the island of Tobago in the densely populated Parish Saint Patrick. As of the 2011 census, Crown Point had 554 residents.

geography

Crown Point is on Store Bay on the Caribbean Sea . Immediately to the south is the ANR Robinson International Airport , which was called Crown Point Airport until 2011 and whose access roads all lead through Crown Point. The nearest ferry port is in the island's capital, Scarborough, 14 km to the east . The neighboring city of Canaan is 2 km to the east .

history

The part of the name "Crown" does not go back to the English word for crown, but is a derivation from French and describes Kurland , which had several branches on the island during the eventful history of Tobago. Fort Milford was built by the British in 1770 to protect the bay on a cliff above the sea. The remains, especially cannons, are integrated into a small memorial park.

economy

The town is dominated by hotels, guest houses, restaurants and shops. There are hotel complexes along the coast, a small beach is open to the public and has shower and changing facilities. Crown Point's only infrastructural facilities are a fire station assigned to the airport and a 26-meter-high lighthouse southwest of the city.
