description

At the time of its release, the game was an innovation, as it was the first adventure game to use fluid 2D vector graphics for the characters that move on painted backgrounds.

The action takes place on a cruise ship in 1927. In typical Agatha Christie style - and especially in the Hercule Poirot series - the player, as Inspector Raoul Dusentier, has to solve a murder, gathering clues and questioning suspects. How far the player has progressed in the story can be deduced from the time in the game. If a task has been completed, a new piece of evidence has been found or an important witness has been questioned, the progression of the clock is displayed and thus signals that old areas of the ship should be revisited as they may have changed. This unusual principle of the progress display prevents unnecessary walking around on the ship.

The similarities between the protagonist of the computer game, Raoul Dusentier, and his novel and TV model Hercule Poirot are (intentionally) striking, but have been changed for legal reasons. Finally, the first successful TV adaptations about the character Poirot appeared as early as 1989. It was not until many more years later that PC games appeared that also contained the actual naming and links to the novels / TV adaptations for marketing purposes.
