Cryphaea heteromalla (German Einseitwendiges Verstecktfruchtmoos ) is a moss - kind from the family Cryphaeaceae .
features
This species forms loose lawns and usually grows on deciduous trees. It has creeping primary rungs with upright branches (secondary rungs). The branches are 1.5 to 2, at most 3 centimeters long and have little or no branching. The leaves of the branches are broadly ovate, sharply pointed and with entire margins, dry lying, sticking upright when moist. The strong vein ends in the upper half of the leaf. The leaf cells are oval to rhombic and 14 micrometers long, longer next to the rib.
Sporogons are regularly present, they sit on short side shoots of the branches. The capsules are sunk into the elongated perichaetial leaves. The gender distribution is autocratic .
Location claims and distribution
Cryphaea heteromalla grows epiphytically on trunks or branches of deciduous trees; it has rarely been observed on concrete. Light-rich to partially shaded and humid locations in flat and hilly areas are preferred.
Occurrences of this type are found in Europe mainly in the western and southern parts, others are given in North Africa, the Azores and Canaries and North America.
In Germany, the main distribution is mainly in the west, in Rhineland-Palatinate, Saarland and parts of Baden-Württemberg. In other federal states the species is rare or absent entirely. In Switzerland it occurs rather rarely in the west and north. In Austria it was detected for the first time in the last few years (2014). In the countries mentioned, the number of records has recently increased significantly and there is a slight tendency to spread to the east.
