Csaba Böjte
Csaba Böjte , Hungarian Böjte Csaba , because in Hungary the family name comes before the individual name; Pronunciation: ˈtʃɒbɒ ˈbøjtɛ , (born January 24, 1959 in Cluj , Kolozsvár , Transylvania , Romania ) is a Hungarian-speaking Franciscan from Romania, spiritual writer and founder of the “St. Francis Foundation” in Deva .
biography
Böjte's father was a Hungarian poet who was sentenced to seven years in prison for political reasons under the national communist regime of Nicolae Ceaușescu .
To prepare for his life as a priest , Csaba Böjte worked underground in the mountains of Harghita for a year . The communists had banned religious orders in Romania at that time, but Böjte was secretly accepted by the Franciscans in Csíksomlyó / Șumuleu Ciuc in 1982. After several years as a priest, he was called to Deva (Romania), where in 1992 he founded the “St. Francis Foundation”. The purpose of the foundation is to rescue and care for Hungarian street children and orphans living in Romania. Over time, around 40 social and religious humanitarian institutions from Romania have come together under her name and the foundation is internationally known.
