Cuan Longyan Stele
The Cuan Longyan-stele ( Chinese 爨龍顏碑 / 爨龙颜碑 , Pinyin Cuan Longyan in , English Stele of Cuan Longyan ) is from among Luliang in the province of Yunnan originating in China stele .
The 3.38 m high stele was erected in 458 during the time of the Liu Song Dynasty and the time of the Southern Dynasties . It is located in Luliang County about 14 km south of the main town of Zhongshu ( 中枢 镇 ), within the grounds of the "Zhen Yuanbao Elementary School", which belongs to the Majie community .
The stele is written in rule script ( zhengshu ) and is an important find for the history of Chinese calligraphy. The text consists of 904 characters.
The stone stele is a tombstone for local senior official Cuan Longyan , which was rediscovered in Luliang County in 1826 by scholar Ruan Yuan , who was then governor of Yunnan and Guizhou .
In connection with the Cuan Baozi stele , the collective expression of the "two cuan" is also mentioned.
The stele has been on the list of monuments of the People's Republic of China ( 1-127 ) since 1961 .
