Cuatro Ciénegas (officially Cuatro Ciénagas de Carranza ) is a city of about 10,000 inhabitants in the center of the Mexican state of Coahuila . It is 740 m. ü. M. in the Región Desierto and is the administrative seat of the municipality of the same name Cuatro Ciénagas .

history

The city was founded on May 24, 1800 under the name Nuestra Señora de Los Dolores y Cuatro Ciénegas by Antonio Cordero. The city was named after the four swamps that lie in the city.
