Organization for cultural heritage, handicrafts and tourism
The Cultural Heritage, Crafts and Tourism Organization ( Persian سازمان میراث فرهنگی ، صنایع دستی و گردشگری/ engl. Iran Cultural Heritage, Handcrafts and Tourism Organization ; Dec. ICHHTO ) is an Iranian educational and research institution that numerous supervised its affiliated museums throughout Iran. It is administered and funded by the government of Iran.
It was founded in 1985 by law of the Majles , merging eleven research and cultural organizations. The current director is Ruhollah Ahmadzadeh .
She publishes and oversees the publication of many magazines and books and carries out projects in connection with foreign museums and academies. It is similar in scope and activity to the US Smithsonian Institution .
