The Cunard Building is a building on Pier Head in Liverpool . It is located in the port district on the River Mersey , which has been a World Heritage Site since 2004 . Together with the Royal Liver Building and the Port of Liverpool Building , it is one of the so-called Three Graces , one of the city's landmarks.

It was designed by William Edward Willink and Philip Coldwell Thicknesse and built between 1914 and 1917. Stylistically it is influenced by the Italian Renaissance and the Greek Revival and is based on the architecture of Italian palazzos . The building consists of a reinforced concrete structure and cladding made of Portland stone . Numerous decorative elements adorn the facade, worth mentioning are the statues of bald eagles , which are each attached to the edges of the building. In contrast to the neighboring buildings, it is not symmetrical, but wider on the back than on the front.

The Cunard Line shipping company was located in the building until the 1960s . Today it belongs to the Merseyside Pension Fund and the premises are used by several private and public companies.
