Curt Gerstmann

Curt Gerstmann (* around 1907; † unknown) was a German table tennis player . He took part in the 1926 World Cup.

Career

Gerstmann played tennis. He became acquainted with table tennis in the early 1920s when Roman Najuch - a well-known tennis player at the time - organized table tennis tournaments in Richard Rau's (100 m runner) sports house so that the tennis players could bridge the winter break.

Gerstmann was an attacking player. He was nominated for the first German international match, which was won 8: 4 against England in January 1926. At the 1926 World Cup , he was seventh with the German team. He came to a score of 4:14 in the team fights, but won against Dr. Hassan-Ali Fyzee , the President of the Indian Table Tennis Association . In the individual competition, Gerstmann lost in the first round to the Englishman AE Stillwell, the doubles with Fritz Zinn was eliminated after a bye in the second round against HA Benett / George J. Ross (England).

At the end of the 1920s, Gerstmann took part in several tournaments in New York.
