Cycosmos was a community and chat platform from ID Media AG , which was presented at CeBIT Home in 1998 . The whole of Hall 18 of the exhibition grounds was used for the presentation. On January 3, 2000, a music single produced by Alex Christensen by the Cycosmos Avatar E-Cyas with the title Are u real? released. The title stayed in the German single charts for four weeks. Twelve months later, Cycosmos was closed on December 20th. In the meantime, Cycosmos had over 800,000 registered users. With the announcement of the closure, the software Cynigma developed by IBM and ID Media was announced as the successor. A relaunch of Cycosmos was announced at the end of 2007 . ID Media AG has been piloting a new community under the names Board of Music and Musikunterricht.de since October 2017 .
