The ID Media AG is an Internet agency based in Cologne. The company acts primarily as an IT service provider and implementation partner for digital marketing and e-business solutions. The main products of ID Media AG are the content management system FirstSpirit , RedDot ( Open Text Web Site Management) and Sitecore and open source - e-commerce platform Magento .
The company was originally founded in Aalen in 1988 by Bernd Kolb and Jürgen Buschbaum as ID-Werbeagentur GmbH. From 1993 onwards it concentrated increasingly on online marketing and, with the boom of the Internet in the second half of the 1990s , it was able to increase sales and the number of employees significantly. In 1998 the online community Cycosmos was presented at CeBIT .
In 1999 the company was listed on the stock exchange under the name ID Media AG. The following year the company moved to Berlin. In 2001 the company reached its peak with 555 employees.
After the departure of the company founder Bernd Kolb in 2005 and the loss of large customers, the company got into financial difficulties until 2009 and announced in an ad hoc announcement of April 30, 2009 that it would file for bankruptcy . The company was later sold to TIG Themis Industries Group GmbH & Co. KGaA and Frankfurt CapitalPartners (FCP) AG.
The company then changed its name to "new id media AG" and relocated its headquarters to Cologne. The subsidiaries of ID Media AG, MEDIAL GmbH in Cologne and ID MEDIA Ltd. were also taken over. in London. MEDIAL GmbH was merged with new id media AG in 2010.
As a result, the company was realigned and has since concentrated primarily on solutions for e-business and enterprise content management .
In January 2012, the English subsidiary was sold to the marketing and PR agency August Media based in London.
At the beginning of 2014 it was renamed ID Media AG.
Since 2015, ID Media AG has been offering full-service agency services again through its agency network "ID Media Group" .
