Cyril Holmes

Cyril Holmes ( Cyril Butler Holmes ; born January 11, 1915 in Bolton , Greater Manchester , † June 21, 1996 ibid) was a British sprinter .

In 1935 he won silver over 200 m at the International Student Games . At the Olympic Games in Berlin in 1936 , he was eliminated over 100 m in the quarter-finals. In 1937 he achieved a double victory over 100 m and 200 m at the International Student Games.

At the British Empire Games in Sydney in 1938 , he won over 100 yards , 220 yards and won silver with the English 4-by-110-yard relay.

In 1937 he was English champion over 100 yards, in 1939 over 220 yards and in 1936 and 1937 over 70 yards in the hall.

In 1947 and 1948 he was a member of the English national rugby union team three times .
