Chernivtsi Newspaper

The Czernowitzer Zeitung was a German-language daily newspaper in the Austro-Hungarian (now Ukrainian ) city of Czernowitz , which appeared from 1868 to 1918. The newspaper published by the kk state authority was the official announcement organ and represented a state-supporting position in the interests of the Austro-Hungarian monarchy. With around 50 years of continuous publication, the Czernowitzer Zeitung was one of the longest-lived German-language newspapers in Bukowina . Their editors-in-chief were Josef Schluet, J. Leichl, Anton Zachar and Anton Norst .

The publication was stopped in 1918 when Romania annexed Bukovina . Among other things, the Czernowitzer Allgemeine Zeitung and the newly founded Czernowitzer Morgenblatt remained in the German press .
