Dæmpegårdsdyssen

Dæmpegårds- or Kongedyssen

The Dæmpegårdsdyssen (also Kongedyssen called) is located on the northern edge of the Tokkekøb Hegn, south of the Frederik Vej 7 at Lillerød and Blovstrød on North Zealand in Denmark . The dolmen was built between 3000 and 2800 BC. Built in the Neolithic BC as a system of the funnel beaker culture (TBK) and consists of two parallel dolmens of different sizes, one of which lies in a stone circle, located fairly centrally within an approximately 40 m long rectangular barn bed ( Randstenskæde in Danish ).

The blocks of the stone circle are almost as big as the girders of the chamber, but significantly smaller than the boulders of the rectangular complex in Kongedyssen. The dolmen in the round stone setting is also considerably smaller. Similar examples, according to L. Kaelas, should speak for the priority of round dolmen, because it is difficult to imagine that a round dolmen has been built into an existing long bed. A similar finding is available in Bohuslän . The dolmen of Haga lies in a stone circle that appears to be surrounded by a rectangular stone frame. The southwestern, smaller dolmen (both are probably primeval dolmen ) is separated by rows of stones lying across the hill. The curbs of the megalithic bed are complete, except for two.

In the 1860s, the megalithic complex was excavated by the Danish King Frederik VII and HC Jørgensen. A small Neolithic ax was found during the excavation . The king, who was interested in archeology, had already taken part in excavations at an early age and organized numerous archaeological investigations, especially in Jægerspris municipality . Framed in a square, the king's monogram and the date May 30, 1860 are incised. On the keystone of the large chamber are the letters "LD", which for Louise Countess Danner is the king's morganatic wife .
