Désiree Hamelink (born September 19, 1981 ) is a Dutch chess player .
successes
With the Dutch women's national team, she took part as reserve player in the 2002 Chess Olympiad and the 2005 European Team Championship. She plays club chess in the Netherlands for the Schaakvereniging Spijkenisse from South Holland, where she also gives chess training. In the British 4NCL she played from 2004 to 2007 for 3Cs Oldham (until 2005 3Cs Numerica ) and in Belgium for Bredene's second team . In the German 2nd women's league she played for the Essen club White Lady Borbeck .
Since November 2002 she has held the title of International Women's Champion (WIM). The first standard for this she achieved at the Dutch women's individual championship in 2002 in Leeuwarden , where she was third. In January 2015 she ranks eleventh in the Dutch women's Elo ranking.

At the Open Dutch Championship 2004 in Dieren , Gelderland she won in the first round against the almost 500 Elo points stronger Grandmaster Sergey Tiviakov through a much-discussed mistake by the Russian on move 42, who lost the game in one go. After that Tiviakov won all games and could still win the tournament.
