The Döblinger Bad is a combination pool of the City of Vienna . In addition to the indoor pool, it also has a summer pool. It is located in the 19th district of Döbling, between the Heiligenstädter Park and the Hohe Warte . It consists of three pools in the indoor pool and four pools in the outdoor area.

history

Until 1977, part of the Rothschild Gardens , a botanical garden area laid out by Nathaniel Meyer Freiherr von Rothschild in 1860, was located on the current site of the Döblinger Bad .

The construction of the indoor swimming pool took place in the course of the uniform swimming pool concept planned by Friedrich Florian Grünberger for the city of Vienna, "bath off the rack", and was opened on December 2, 1978. This concept of the “Spa Pope of Vienna” at the time envisaged the construction of a 25 × 12.5 meter swimming pool, a teaching pool and a children's pool, a sauna facility and a restaurant for a total of six Viennese district pools.

After the Hohe Warte summer pool was closed on September 30, 1987, the Döbling summer pool was opened on May 2, 1988. This is an outdoor area that extends the indoor pool by four more pools.

In 2004 the beach volleyball court was also put into operation. A year later, in the course of renovation work, there were also small changes to the interior (vestibule, cash desk, cloakrooms, restaurant).

Trivia

During a legionella infestation in a neighboring residential complex in Döblingen in 2013, a shower ban was imposed due to the risk of infection. The responsible housing cooperative offered the residents a monthly ticket in Döblinger Bad as compensation.
