Döhler Fuhren

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Döhler Fuhren ( Low German for Döhler Föhren , also Döhler Kiefern ) are an approx. 3 km² large pine forest in the Lüneburg Heath between Wilsede and Döhle . The area is separated into a northern and a southern part by the Kienmoor.

In contrast to most of the other forests on the Lüneburg Heath, which were established by reforestation at the end of the 19th century, the Döhler Fuhren was created naturally at the beginning of this century by the approach of pine seeds on the dunes of the Döhler Sand. Presumably some autochthonous pines have survived in the area of the Kienmoor, which began to germinate again after the authorities ordered a complete cessation of use of the Döhler Sand dunes around 1800.

The Döhler Fuhren are therefore around 100 years older than most of the other forests in the area. As a result, numerous large specimens of the Scots pine ( Pinus sylvestris ) species that are around 200 years old can be found in the Döhler Fuhren .

The Döhler Fuhren are located in the Lüneburg Heath nature reserve and are now largely owned by the Association of Nature Conservation Park (VNP). The Pastor-Bode -Weg leads through the northern edge of the Döhler Fuhren , which the busy pastor often used to get from his parish in Egestorf to Wilsede as quickly as possible .
