Dörthe Weddige-Degenhard (born July 19, 1949 in Bremerhaven ) is a German politician and was a member of the Lower Saxony state parliament .

education and profession

After graduating from high school, Weddige-Degenhard studied politics and English for teaching. After her second teacher examination in Osterholz-Scharmbeck , she was a teacher at the orientation level in Schladen from 1975 to 1984 . She then taught at the Cranachstrasse orientation level in Wolfenbüttel until she was elected to the state parliament .

Weddige-Degenhard has been a member of the SPD since 1971 . From 1981 to 1996 and since 2001 she has been a councilor and alderman for the city of Wolfenbüttel and chair of the school committee. She was a member of the Lower Saxony state parliament from 2003 to 2013. Weddige-Degenhard is a member of the Workers' Welfare Association , the Education and Science Union , the German Child Protection Association and the German-French Society .
