Dune 45
Dune 45 ( English Dune 45 ) is a star dune in the Sossusvlei area of the Namib in Namibia . The dune is 80 m to 170 m high and consists of five million year old sand.
Contrary to popular belief, the name does not come from the fact that the dune is located at kilometer 45 of the road that connects Sesriem and Sossusvlei, but rather it is the 45th dune seen from the Atlantic.
