Dürrmühle is a place in the Upper Franconian municipality of Ebersdorf near Coburg in the Coburg district . The wasteland is about twelve kilometers southeast of Coburg am Schneybach, which feeds the Dürrmühlenteich.

history

The Dürrmühle was first mentioned in 1431 as "Durnhoff". The place name can be derived from a former fortified house, the tower, tower house or tower courtyard, belonging to a fortified complex. This resulted in a modification of Durrnhof, Dürnhofsmühle and finally Dürrmühle.

A first mill probably existed as early as the 13th century. It belonged to the Sonnefeld monastery and was probably moved to its present location after 1287. According to the land register of 1514, she had a employed miller who milled for the monastery and the surrounding villages. After the dissolution of the monastery in 1525, the miller acquired the Dürrnhof mill. The mill pond was owned by the royal court until 1716. A cutting mill was also operated between the middle of the 18th century and the end of the 19th century . The grinding mill was shut down in 1968.

In 1852 Dürrmühle was incorporated into Frohnlach. In 1950 six people lived in a residential building in Dürrmühle. The school was in Frohnlach, one kilometer away, and the Protestant church in Ebersdorf. In 1970 the wasteland had six residents.

On May 1, 1978 Frohnlach and Dürrmühle were incorporated into the Ebersdorf community. In 1987 the wasteland consisted of four people, a residential building and an apartment.
