Düsseldorfer Jonges eV is a Düsseldorf homeland club . According to its own assessment, it is the most active and largest home club in Europe .

history

In 1932 the association was founded with the aim of custom and traditionMaintaining and preserving Düsseldorf's. In 2019 there were over 3200 members. Members are only men, women are not allowed - these are part of the “Düsseldorfer Weiter e. V. “organized. The association is currently pursuing the following goals: maintaining customs, history and dialect, protecting and designing urban and home landscapes, supporting landscape and nature conservation, helping in emergencies, including the integration of citizens with foreign roots and refugees from war zones and promoting the city's cosmopolitanism. With the “Kickwinkel” project, refugee children are integrated into the club and beyond into society through football.

In the “Blickwinkel ELA” project, the Jonges, in cooperation with the city and other partners, are responsible for reforestation after the devastating storm ELA (Whitsun 2014). They are committed to the preservation of gas lanterns in the appropriate districts of the city and support the “Pro Gaslicht” initiative.

There are members of the most diverse professions among the Jonges members. They see themselves as religiously and politically neutral, but are involved in political discourse. There is a cooperation with the carnival societies and rifle clubs, which also maintain tradition and customs of the city. Particularly the Regiolekt , the Düsseldorfer Rheinisch , is cultivated . The president of the association is not called “President” but “ Baas ”.

The jonges support cultural institutions (theater, concert hall, opera) and local sports ( Fortuna Düsseldorf , Düsseldorfer EG , Borussia Düsseldorf etc.). Above all, there is close cooperation with the Heinrich Heine University , the Düsseldorf University , the Robert Schumann University of Music and the Art Academy . Outstanding bachelor, master, doctoral or other work is regularly honored with sponsorship awards. Prizes are awarded for science, architecture, art, music and craft.

Within the association there are 53 so-called table communities , in which homeland friends also come together in order to cultivate cultural similarities. The last one was founded on October 1st, 2019. Almost every table community has taken on the sponsorship of one or two monuments in the city and takes care of their maintenance and care.
