Džepčište ( Macedonian Џепчиште ; Albanian Xhepçisht / Xhepçishti ) is a village northeast of Tetovo in northwestern North Macedonia in the border region with Kosovo . Since 2004 it has been incorporated into the Opština (municipality) Tetovo . It is located on the main road from Tetovo to Kosovo at an average altitude of 444 meters and has over 4000 inhabitants.
history
Džepčište was the founding place of the Democratic Prosperity Party , the first Albanian party in Macedonia, on April 16, 1990 ; its founding chairman Nevzat Halili (* 1951) comes from Džepčište.
population
The village of Džepčište counted 4051 inhabitants in the 2002 census. 3,934 (97.11%) were Albanians and 81 (2.00%) were ethnic Macedonians .
economy
In Džepčište there is a production of ready-made plaster of the Renova group.
Culture and sport
There is a museum in the village that its owner, the architect Simeon Zlatev, calls the smallest ethnographic museum in the world. On an area of 7.2 square meters, around 1150 finds from all over North Macedonia, which Zlatev has collected over 30 years, are exhibited.
There are two Macedonian Orthodox churches and a mosque in the village.

The local football club FK Renova Džepčište plays in the highest North Macedonian league, the Prva League .
