D'ZRT was a Portuguese boy band .
history
The Portuguese private television broadcaster TVI had cast the band in advance for their later, successful television series Morangos com Açúcar . The name was formed from the first letters of the television roles of the members: David ( Angélico Vieira ), Zé ( Vítor Fonseca ), Ruca ( Edmundo Vieira ) and Tópê ( Paulo Vintém ).
Due to the success, the band was also active outside of the television series. On stage and in the studio they were accompanied by professional musicians on the instruments while they sang and danced. They gave a variety of concerts and released four CD albums.
In 2008 the band broke up. In addition to Paulo Vintém , Angélico Vieira was also successful as a solo artist. In 2009 the band formed anew without them, and they continued to give concerts until 2010, for example at the Rock-in-Rio-2010 festival, with Angélico as a guest. Angélico died in a car accident in 2011. The group has since been disbanded.
reception
The band found a large enthusiastic fan base in Portugal, not least thanks to the successful television series. They also filled large halls accordingly, and all of their albums hit the top of the sales charts.
However, there were also many opponents of the band who u. a. wanted to prevent the band from being founded with a petition.
