Since the end of 2007, DB Netze has been one of the three brands of Deutsche Bahn AG alongside DB Bahn and DB Schenker . In June 2008, the board of directors of Deutsche Bahn AG decided to separate the service providers from the DB Netze brand as part of the planned partial privatization and to combine only the infrastructure under it. In future, the service providers in the DB Services business unit will operate under the group brand. The DB Netze brand comprises the following business areas:

Until 2016:

The DB Station & Service AG operates around 5,400 stations with 2,400 buildings. It provides services for travelers, rents train station space and also markets station stops for non-group railway companies. The DB Energie GmbH procured electricity and diesel for vehicles and stationary consumer of the entire DB Group. External companies also belong to the customer base.

DB Netze Fahrweg is to increase its profit ( EBIT ) to 1.2 billion euros by 2017 .
