It has been held annually in Las Vegas , Nevada since 1993 . Computer security news will be reported within three days . The event consists of lectures, workshops and meetings of different people. DEFCON was founded by Jeff Moss - also known as The Dark Tangent - who also founded Black Hat Briefings .

There are now many international DEFCON groups that pass on knowledge in their countries and promote new ideas.
