The Neustadt / Weinstrasse Railway Museum is a railway museum of the German Society for Railway History (DGEG) . It is located immediately south of Neustadt an der Weinstrasse's main train station in a former locomotive shed that used to be used by the Neustadt depot. As an important contemporary witness, the museum has been a listed building since the 1980s. Another is in Bochum-Dahlhausen .
The Neustadt / Weinstrasse Railway Museum makes the historic locomotive shed of the Pfalzbahn from the early days of the railways in what was then the Bavarian Palatinate accessible. The locomotive shed still largely shows its original condition. The museum also includes other facilities at Neustadt train station.
The focus of the Neustadt / Weinstrasse museum is on vehicles from the former southern German state railways. The last two original steam locomotives from the Palatinate Railway era are preserved here, the Palatinate T 1 "Schaidt" and a Palatine T 5 . In addition, the replica of an express train locomotive ( "The Palatinate" ) from the early railway era , type Crampton , is shown. Vehicles from the time of the Deutsche Reichsbahn are an E 17 , an ET 11 and the 18 505 . In addition, the Neustadt Railway Museum has a number of passenger and freight cars from the former Baden and Württemberg railways , as well as the later standard designs . A steam snow blower built in 1942 also belongs to the inventory .
Reconditioning and maintenance, upkeep of the buildings and the operation of the connected museum railway, the Kuckucksbähnel , are carried out on a voluntary basis by association members.
