The GTP binding protein Di-Ras3 is a protein encoded by the DIRAS3 gene . It belongs to the proteins around the Ras family and is to be understood as a tumor suppressor that has lost its function, particularly in breast cancer and ovarian cancer . This is where DIRAS3 is most strongly expressed in healthy tissue ; expression in other tissues differs. The protein has a highly conserved GTP-binding domain , probably an effector domain that differs significantly from those of the Ras and Rap proteins, and a C -terminal motif for membrane localization .
