The DIY Element System GmbH (formerly Rudolf Bohnacker systems ) is a medium-sized company with headquarters based in Southern Rottenacker near Ulm . The company mainly produces shelving systems for end users.

It is the European market leader in the field of shelf and storage systems for end users.

Under the Element System brand , shelving systems are mainly sold, but other items such as table feet are sold via hardware store chains such as B. Obi for the DIY sector. The former brand Huwil shoptec , which supplies shop fitters with pharmacy and shop fitting systems, was spun off as an independent company as part of the bankruptcy in 2010 and now operates under the name shoptec GmbH in Munderkingen . The former Trend System brand , which mainly sold shelves for the classic furniture trade , was discontinued as a result of the bankruptcy.

DIY Element System GmbH is the European market leader for shelving systems in the DIY sector, with a market share of 80% in France and Austria , around 70% in the Benelux countries and around 50% in Switzerland and Greece . By 2006, the shelving system, which is protected by numerous international patents, had produced one billion beams and 300 million rails. The company also produces so-called string shelves , which are offered under the name BASICS wire ladders .

history

In 1954 the company was founded in Blaubeuren by Rudolf Otto Bohnacker . In 1959 the company expanded into a new plant in Rottenacker. In 1977 the Rottenacker plant was connected to the European rail network. In 1986 the tool shop was spun off to the independent WMB GmbH . In 1992 a plant was opened in Csót, Hungary. After Rudolf Bohnacker senior withdrew from the company in 1993, it was divided between the two sons.

Rudolf Bohnacker junior took over the plant in Rottenacker; the company traded as Rudolf Bohnacker GmbH . The Rudolf Bohnacker GmbH rack systems produced Consumer which were sold through DIY chains. In 1998 Rudolf Bohnacker junior died and his heirs appointed several managing directors over the years. After several legal proceedings, the company was renamed Bohnacker Group GmbH with the brands Element System , Trend System and huwil shoptec . Under the established brand element system further business with shelves for end should consumers take place; With the Trend System brand , entry into a higher-quality segment was to be achieved and the goods were sold through traditional furniture retailers. With the purchase of the Huwil company in 2000, the Huwil shoptec brand was founded. As a result of the ongoing legal disputes over the company name and as a result of the bankruptcy, the company was finally renamed DIY Element System GmbH and sold to the German-Dutch investment company Nimbus hands-on investors . The huwil Shoptec brand was spun off and is now operated as an independent company under the name shoptec GmbH based in Munderkingen . The Trend System brand has been discontinued entirely.
