history

The foundation stone for the Möbel-Martin-Gruppe was laid in 1959 by the company's founder Werner Martin with a furniture wholesaler in Neunkirchen . Since then, the family business has grown continuously. The group now has eight furniture stores in Rhineland-Palatinate and Saarland. From 1974 Silvia Martin worked as an assistant to the management in her father's company and supervised several projects as part of the expansion. In 1976 she became a member of the group's management, initially responsible for the controlling, finance and accounting divisions. In 1990 the group's headquarters were relocated from Rhineland-Palatinate to Saarland. With Nicolas Martin, the third generation has recently been represented in the management.

Möbel Martin is now the largest furniture retail company in southwest Germany. As of 2012, the group had 115,000 m² of storage space and around 157,000 m² of sales space. The workforce amounts to over 2,000 employees and with 60 trainees in eleven different occupations, the company is the largest training company in trade in Saarland.
