The club was founded in 1920 as a Catholic sports club of the German youth force . With the ban on denominational sports clubs during the Nazi era , club life came to a standstill in 1935. It was not until 1958 that the club was re-established with the football, athletics and table tennis departments.
In the late 1970s and early 1980s, the club's soccer team played in the Central Franconian district league . The greatest sporting success was participation in the DFB Cup in 1978 . In the first main round, the team lost to Bundesliga club SV Darmstadt 98 1: 4.
