Creation of the association

The club DJK Sportbund was founded in November 1920 by the theologian Hermann Hecht († 1962). Over the years, further DJK associations have emerged in the various Regensburg Catholic parishes, such as DJK St.Anton (1927), DJK St. Emmeran , DJK Department Cathedral , DJK St. Cäcilia . In 1954 the DJK clubs south of the Danube merged to form the DJK St. Erhard , and St. Cäcilia merged with the DJK St.Anton.

On July 1, 1967, the clubs DJK St. Erhard and DJK St.Anton merged to form the new club DJK SB Regensburg .

Table tennis

The predecessor club, DJK St. Erhard , joined the Bavarian Table Tennis Association as a member in September 1955 . From the beginning, women's and men's teams were active, and in the 1966/67 season they were represented in the Oberliga, the top German division at the time. The women's team of the then competing club DJK Anton Regensburg also played in the major league in 1965/66. At the end of the 1972/73 season, the women were promoted to the two-part Bundesliga , where they reached sixth place in 1973/74 and relegated bottom of the table a year later. In 1977 they missed promotion in the promotion round to the Bundesliga. Then the women's team was withdrawn from the league. From 1981 to 1984 they played again in the 2nd Bundesliga.

The men's team also competed in the 2nd Bundesliga in 2000/01 and 2001/02 and then voluntarily returned to the Bayern League.

The association was awarded the Green Belt in 1993 for its good youth work .

In the 2012/13 season, eight men's teams (1st team Bayernliga), three women's teams (1st team Oberliga) and four youth teams competed.
